On average, 13.2 million people in the United States have at least one disability that may prevent them from fully enjoying your e-learning courses. Section 508 of the United States Workforce Rehabilitation Act of 1973 mandates that e-learning courses used by the federal government be accessible to people with disabilities. State and local governments often follow suit, as do many organizations with a broad user base. That’s a lot of users who shouldn’t be left behind! 

In this session, we will take a practical look at the features of Articulate Storyline that support development of accessible courses. We’ll focus on how to design accessible multimedia and interactivity rather than watering things down. You’ll leave this session with a set of best practices for the creation of engaging courses that can be accessed by everyone.

 Dan Richards is Chief Learning Strategy Officer with Interactive Advantage Corporation, an e-learning development services group based in Suwanee, Georgia. Dan has a background in education and is a 17-year veteran of e-learning technology and solution architecture. He's completed hundreds of projects on subjects from sales training to nursing informatics to nuclear power plant operations. 

He frequently speaks on subjects that include mobile learning, scenario-based learning, SCORM and Tin Can API, Section 508 compliance, and e-learning as an enterprise practice. As a teacher, Dan brings his real-world experience into the classroom. His instruction spans development methods, instructional techniques, and software tools such as Lectora and Articulate Storyline.
