The Novelis Talent Management journey has been one on overdrive. With the undivided support of Novelis’ CEO, Phil Martens, and under Leslie Joyce (Chief People Officer) and Joanne McInnerney’s leadership, Novelis successfully created an integrated global talent management program in under 3 years. With strategic direction for all global talent acquisition, development and deployment under one umbrella, Novelis talent is managed from recruitment through retirement. Talent initiatives are aligned with global business priorities and effectively attract, develop and retain talent that drives business value. Prior to the implementation of a Talent Management function, there was no career page and no “high potential” bench, international assignees were forgotten with no path back and global leadership development was non-existent. Today, there is a global platform for employment selection and brand; a global leadership architecture, and a global talent review process with a monthly cadence. With a business objective to double in revenue, triple profitability and drive a sustainability platform by 2020, the challenges are considerable.

Joanne McInnerney, VP Talent Development
Dr. Joanne McInnerney is the Vice President of Talent Management at Novelis Inc in Atlanta, GA where she has worked 
since 2010. In her current position at Novelis, she oversees global integrated talent management including the areas of talent acquisition, leadership and pipeline development, succession planning, change management, organizational effectiveness and talent assessment. Dr. McInnerney has also worked as an internal consultant for The Home Depot, AmTrust Bank, and National City Corporation. . Her primary expertise is in leadership development and talent management with experience spanning both Generalist and Specialist HR roles.
Joanne received her bachelor’s in psychology and her master’s and PhD in I/O Psychology from Northern Illinois University. Joanne has taught HR-related courses as an adjunct professor Cleveland State University in Cleveland, OH. Joanne was born in South Dakota, raised in Illinois and currently lives in Atlanta with her husband Marty and daughter Amy.
