Session 1, Debra Sawin, will facilitate the topic Designing Learning.

CPLP Study Group Series Session One

Session Description:

This session will focus on the topics of designing, creating, and developing effective training and the demonstration of student learning.  The focus on this session will be on foundational theories and concepts of adult learning, instructional design, methods, needs assessment, research, core content and technology.

Debra is a Sr. Instructional Designer Sub-Contractor with General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a volunteer Commissioner for the International Association for Education & Training (IACET^®) and has over 20 years of experience in Education, Training, Management and Instructional Design (traditional synchronous, and web-based).

She has worked with Fortune 500 global companies and non-profit agencies specializing in designing/implementing rapid eLearning programs. Debra earned her CPLP designation in 2010 while in the role of Sr. Instructional Designer & Accreditation Manager for a software company in the claims services/automotive industry. While in that position, in addition to other ISD tasks, she also:

• Designed/Managed a $2.8 million dollar national software donation program
• Built a Standardized Technical English (STE) program for global implementation
• Designed/Administered a dually accredited Continuing Education and Training (CE/T) program

In 2008 Debra was awarded the IACET Exemplar Award for designing an accredited CE/T program which promoted certification standards and ISD benchmarks. Also in 2008 she joined the Central Florida chapter of ASTD as a way to partner with others working on their CPLP credentials and to become more active in the local professional learning community.

Debra most recently enjoyed participating on the 2012 Member Retreat planning team and she looks forward to her role in 2013 as Director of CPLP Activities, mentoring other members interested in pursuing their professional goals.

Note: The Final Session August 15th will be live and registration for the event will be through a separate event registration.

Non-members are welcome to join our study group and attend all 9 sessions for only a one time charge of $90.
