State of the Industry for Talent Development in Georgia: A Round Table Discussion

Objectives:

1. Garner support for ATD Greater Atlanta Chapter including generating ideas for increased engagement and membership growth.
2. Generate actionable insights and recommendations from area senior leaders that can be used to inform programs and initiatives to support talent development in Georgia.

Overview:

As the talent landscape continues to evolve, it is important to take stock of the current state of the talent development industry and explore new ways to attract and develop talent in the state. Talent development is an integral part of economic growth, and the state of Georgia has had an average of 10% growth in GDP year over year since coming out of the pandemic. And since 2010, Georgia’s population grew 11.2%, outpacing the US population growth of 7.3%.

Target Outcomes:

• A report summarizing insights and recommendations gathered from area senior leaders
• Share report with ATD Greater Atlanta Board and discuss actions ATD Greater Atlanta will take as a result
• Increased awareness and support for ATD Greater Atlanta
• Opportunity for networking and collaboration with senior leaders/professionals in the field

John Torres, ATD Greater Atlanta Board of Directors Chair

John Torres is a passionate leader who is deliberate about aligning management, operations, strategy and culture to drive results. With 30 years of experience in L&D, John has served in a variety of leadership roles contributing to the success of organizations such as Honeywell, RockTenn (WestRock), Rollins, and most recently, Bank of America.

John is a devoted volunteer, paying forward the many acts of kindness and opportunities he has received over his career. He is the appointed Senior Advisor on the ATD Greater Atlanta Board of Directors, an active contributor to Georgia Learns, an Executive Advisor on the Talent Development Optimization Council, and Executive Sponsor for the Atlanta Chapter of the Hispanic/Latino Organization for Leadership & Advancement at Bank of America. He is actively involved as a mentor at the Bank and in the ATD Greater Atlanta Mentoring program, and works pro-bono to help people in transition.
