Session Description:
Training and Development (T&D) professionals rate measuring and evaluating training as one of the three most important Areas of Expertise (AOEs) in the field, and one of the most important for the future. Although training professionals spend less time on average conducting this AOE's work (7.6 percent as opposed to 18.5 percent in designing learning), measurement and evaluation are critical to all training programs. The practice of measuring and evaluating training is a standard in the profession. Over the past half-century, it has evolved from subjective measures (did the course satisfy the people in it), to financial measures (the ROI of a particular effort), to broad measures of effectiveness and efficiency and the impact of training on business goals.
